Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple


             At once the Lord hastened to make apologies to the angry Sage and pressed his feet to ease the pain caused to the leg. In doing so the Lord removed the eye in the foot of the Sage, which gave him power as to defy the Devas. The Sage thereupon decided that Sri MahaVishnu was the most Supreme of the Trimurtis and told the Rishis the same.
They thereupon decided that Sri MahaVishnu was the fruit of the Yaga and sacrifice was offered to Him (Vishnu).Sri Mahalakshmi left Vaikuntham as Lord Vishnu did not punish Sage Brighu for his actions i.e. kicking on his chest, the place where Sri Mahalakshmi resides. After the departure of Mahalakshmi, Lord Vishnu left Vaikuntha in a forlorn condition and took his abode in an ant-hill on the Venkata Hill under a tamarind tree beside a Pushkarini

Yasoda brought up Sri Krishna, the son of Devaki, in his early years. Yasoda was not blessed to witness the marriage of Sri Krishna with Rukmini and she felt very sad. Sri Krishna promised to fulfil her desire in her next birth as Vakuladevi in his next Avatara as Srinivasa (Lord Vishnu). Vakuladevi was sent to serve Srinivasa (Lord Vishnu) by Lord Varahasvami, on whom she was attending till Srinivasa (Lord Vishnu) came to Venkatachala. 

Gunadala Mary Matha Church



Mother Mary is said to have appeared on this hill as on 11 Feb, 1858. In 1925, the Rector of St. Joseph's Orphanage at Gunadala installed a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes and in 1971 a church was built there.

The holy mass marking the conclusion of the three-day festival  was celebrated by Bishop Telagathoti Joseph Rajarao of Vijayawadaand concelebrated by Bishop Govinda Joji of Nalgonda, former Bishop of Kurnool Mathew Cheriankunnel, Gunadala shrine rector Fr. M Chinnappa, Chancellor Fr. J. John Raj and several other priests.

Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park


         t was established on 29 September 1987 and covers an area of 5532 acres It is one of the largest zoo parks in Asia
     
 Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park: This Zoological park is situated in the outskirts of the abode of the Lord of Seven Hills, Sri Tirumala Balaji Of Tirupati. The zoo is about 12kms from the Renigunta railway station. Once you are near the Bus stand or the railway station Go down the road towards KapilaTeertham, then to Alipiri Circle.
           From there instead of going ahead towards Tirumala, take the road towards Bangalore where you will see the Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park on your right.
       
    Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh is nothing like the zoos you  would have seen in your lifetime. To understand why, you need to comprehend the theme around which the park has been created. Located at the foot of Seshachalam Hills, Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park extends over a huge area of over 5500 acres. You will come across very few parks with such a diversity of endemic flora and fauna and such remarkable, scenic environs.

Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park is 12 km from the Tirupati Railway Station and 31 km from the airport. From here the Central Bus Station is also 12 km away. This unique park is located in Kadapa and Chittoor Districts of Andhra Pradesh.


Kapila Theertham





Apart from some ancient Shiva temples like Gudimallam Parashurameshwara Temple, the others are Parasareswara temple in Yogi Mallavaram, Thiruchannoor Padmavathi Temple, the famous Sri Kalahashteeswara Temple and the Manikanteswara Swamy Devasthanam (Shivalayam) in Kanipakam. Some other temples are the Goddess Kamakshi temple, Veda Narayana Swamy Temple, Lakshmi Narayanaswamt Temple, Lord Ganesha’s Temple, Kumaraswamy and the Dakshineswara Temple.

Legend has it that Saint Kapila Maharishi, one of the holiest Hindu saints, meditated in the cave in front of the idol of Lord Shiva. The pond in to which the water falls is called the ‘Kapila Theertham’ in honour of the great saint. The waterfalls is also said to be holy and it is believed that according to the  Hindu calendar in the month of ‘Kartika’, which generally falls in between October and November, on a particular auspicious date, all the ‘theerthas ‘ in the universe merge to flow into Kapila Theertham. It is also believed that pilgrims or devotees who bath in the pond will attain salvation from rebirth.

The Waterfalls is best visited immediately after monsoons especially in December.  Monsoons are from July to October and the temperatures are low at that time. The festivities are generally in September and visitors to the temples around are advised to book their accommodation reasonably earlier.
